Step inside teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi and the rules of a normal museum stop applying. There’s nothing to walk past everything reacts to you. Move your hand and light follows it. Slow down near a wall and colour blooms outward from where you’re standing. This is not art you observe from a polite distance. It’s art built from the same air, water and light in the room with you and it only exists because you’re there to shape it. Located in Abu Dhabi’s Saadiyat Cultural District a short walk from Louvre Abu Dhabi teamLab Phenomena opened on 18 April 2025 as one of the most ambitious permanent art spaces the Japanese collective teamLab has built anywhere in the world. Spread across 17,000 square metres, it’s designed for a minimum 2.5-hour visit, so plan for a real afternoon or evening out, not a quick photo stop.

Overview Of Activity

The idea behind teamLab Phenomena is simple to say and strange to actually experience: the art isn’t a fixed object, it’s a phenomenon something the environment produces, the way weather produces a cloud. teamLab’s founder, Toshiyuki Inoko, has described it as art that exists only because the environment keeps making it exist, rather than sitting still like a painting on a wall. In practice, that means you’ll walk through rooms where floors ripple like water under your feet, spheres of light drift and respond when you get close and butterflies seem to emerge from wherever your hand lands. Sound and light are choreographed together, so a room can feel completely different ten minutes later, once enough visitors have moved through it. Comfortable shoes matter here some installations use reflective, water-based flooring and high heels aren’t allowed for safety reasons. Because the space rewards slowing down, most visitors find the 2.5-hour minimum easy to fill and many end up staying longer once they realise how much changes room to room.

Daily general admission: 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM (last admission 8:00 PM) Art Undistracted (adults-only, 18+): Monday – Thursday, 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM (last entry for under-18s on these days is 4:30 PM)

Ramadan hours typically shift to 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM with last entry at 6:00 PM always worth a quick check closer to your travel dates, since teamLab adjusts timings around holidays and special events.

Know before you go

Children aged 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times
The minimum recommended visit length is 2.5 hours build it into your day properly
Re-entry isn’t allowed once you leave, so finish everything (café, shop, restrooms) before heading out
Free lockers are provided for items you can’t carry into water-based or reflective-floor sections
Valet and general parking are both available onsite, free of charge
